Chapter 3 Research Design My research is a study on a group of muslim students in a certain school. I choose a case study as my research design. Case study as a research strategy often emerges as an obvious option for students and other new researchers who are seeking to undertake a modest scale research project based on their workplace or the comparison of a limited number of organisations. (Jennifer Rowley, 2002). Case study as a research method is often indexed in most undergraduate research textbooks as neither quantitative nor qualitative. (Donna M.Zucker, 2009). Case study research excels at bringing us to an understanding of a complex issue or object and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through previous research. (Sue Soy, 2006). Case studies, in their true essence, explore and investigate contemporary real-life phenomenon through detailed contextual analysis of a limited number of events or conditions, and their relationships. (Zaidah Zainal, 2007). For psychologists, anthropologists and social scientists they have been regarded a case study as a valid method of research for many years. Population and Sample of Research Population for this study is composed of Muslim students studying SMK Kepong Baru in Afternoon Session. Total Muslims in afternoon session is a total of 66 people consisting of students from Form 1 and Form 2. So our afternoon session students study sample. This was done in this study to ensure the validity of the study. If you're doing the wrong sampling will cause some things to happen, such as: 1. Selection error: if any of the elements of the population has a higher probability of being selected than the rest. Let us imagine that we want to measure how satisfied the clients of a gymnasium are, and for that, we are going to interview some of them from 10 to 12 in the morning. This means that the people who go to the gymnasium in the afternoon will not be represented, and then the sample will not be representative of all the clients. A way to avoid this kind of errors is choosing the sample so that all the clients have the same probability of being selected. 2. Non-answer error: it is also possible that some of the elements of the population do not want or cannot answer certain questions. Or it can also happen, when we have a questionnaire including personal questions, that some of the members of the population do not answer honestly. This errors are generally very complicated to avoid, but in case that we want to Research instrument For this study, researchers used questionnaires as a research instrument to collect data and information from the respondents. Survey research is one of the most important areas of measurement in applied social research. The broad area of survey research encompasses any measurement procedures that involve asking questions of respondents. A "survey" can be anything form a short paper-and-pencil feedback form to an intensive one-on-one in-depth interview. (William M.K.Trochim, 2006). A survey is a systematic method of collecting data from a population of interest. It tends to be quantitative in nature and aims to collect information from a sample of the population such that the results are representative of the population within a certain degree of error. This survey will be done on the question of the study. There are 10 items for each question of the study. Scale made in this survey is the Likert scale. A psychometric response scale primarily used in questionnaires to obtain participant’s preferences or degree of agreement with a statement or set of statements. Likert scales are a non‐comparative scaling technique and are unidimensional (only measure a single trait) in nature. Respondents are asked to indicate their level of agreement with a given statement by way of an ordinal scale. Most commonly seen as a 5‐point scale ranging from “Strongly Disagree” on one end to “Strongly Agree” on the other with “Neither Agree nor Disagree” in the middle; however, some practitioners advocate the use of 7 and 9‐point scales which add additional granularity. Sometimes a 4‐point (or other even‐numbered) scale is used to produce an ipsative (forced choice) measure where no indifferent option is available. Each level on the scale is assigned a numeric value or coding, usually starting at 1 and incremented by one for each level. Pilot Study A pilot, or feasibility study, is a small experiment designed to test logistics and gather information prior to a larger study, in order to improve the latter’s quality and efficiency. A pilot study can reveal deficiencies in the design of a proposed experiment or procedure and these can then be addressed before time and resources are expended on large scale studies. Animal experiments are not usually carried out in isolation, but are part of a program of research. A good research strategy requires careful planning and a pilot study will often be a part of this strategy. A pilot study is normally small in comparison with the main experiment and therefore can provide only limited information on the sources and magnitude of variation of response measures. It is unlikely, for example, that a pilot study alone can provide adequate data on variability for a power analysis to estimate the number of animals to include in a well designed experiment. A systematic review of the literature or even a single publication is a more appropriate source of information on variability. The pilot study may, however, provide vital information on the severity of proposed procedures or treatments. I should do a pilot study because the items that will be given to students having doubts meaning items that caused them difficult to answer accurately as understood by the students. So when I want to analyze the data, my research will produce a study about reliability and validity. But if I do a test pilot is understood by the students, so I can continue to take the data given by the students for analysis. The pilot study was conducted to measure the reliability of an instrument. Cronbach Alpha method used for this measurement with the help of SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 11.5. Cronbach's alpha is an index of reliability associated with the variation accounted for by the true score of the "underlying construct." Construct is the hypothetical variable that is being measured (Hatcher, 1994). Alpha coefficient ranges in value from 0 to 1 and may be used to describe the reliability of factors extracted from dichotomous (that is, questions with two possible answers) and/or multi-point formatted questionnaires or scales (i.e., rating scale: 1 = poor, 5 = excellent). The higher the score, the more reliable the generated scale is. Nunnaly (1978) has indicated 0.7 to be an acceptable reliability coefficient but lower thresholds are sometimes used in the literature.
Chapter 2 Literature Review Addin is a way of life that is accepted by Allah. No other way of life to be used by a muslim such as communism or others. One of the of life in Islam that is being asked hereafter is solat or prayer. Rasulullah said, “Indeed, the first thing checked / were / are calculated on a slave on the Day of Judgment is the prayer of deeds. If his prayer is good, strange luck and success will be with him and if his prayer is bad / damaged, then disappointed and suffered a ". (HR An-Nasa'i and At-Tirmidhi). Al-Dhahabi (1996), a prominent Muslim scholar and historian, defined effective spiritual care in the light of the benefits of Islamic ritual prayers that contribute to the spiritual, psychological, physical, and moral well-being of the client. For him, effective spiritual care with ritual prayer is a form of worship and has a psychological benefit by helping to divert the mind from pain by concentrating on prayers.
Chapter 1 Introduction Discipline problem is a branch of disobedience committed by a person during his early age was schooling. So evil must be avoided so as not to be a dangerous disease in the community. Allah has recorded in the Qur'an, which means, "You are the best 'Ummah ever raised for mankind. You bid the fair and forbid the unfair, and you believe in Allah. If the people of the Book believed limit, it would have been better for prototypes. Azizuzanadi prototypes, there are believers, while Most of prototypes are sinners. " (Surah Ali Imran: 110). Amar is right, and good and prohibit evil also is an indicator of things to be a Muslim faith stated in a hadith which means "Those of you who see evil, let him change it with his hand. If not able, to be with verbal (mouth). If not able, to be with her (which happens to hate evil) and that weakest of faith "(Hadith narrated by Muslim). There are several types of discipline problems in schools are often done by students regardless of background. Among them are coming late to school, truancy, vandalism and other disciplinary problems (Khalim Zainal, Rohani Ahmad Tarmizi, Zakaria Kasa, Mizan Adiliah Ahmad Ibrahim, 2007). Principal or Headmaster always take the necessary action in order to curb indiscipline among students (Student Misconduct Report, 1994/95). Rules and penalties prescribed by the Ministry of Education as a guide when implementing discipline supervision (Cabinet Committee Report, 1979). Several Researchers are also studying ways to curb indiscipline among Penalty System Program (Khalim Zainal, Rohani Ahmad Tarmizi, Zakaria Kasa, Mizan Adiliah Ahmad Ibrahim, 2007). According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia resources, discipline problems in schools referred to as serious juvenile increased from year 2000 to 2004. Thus the problem of student discipline or juvenile should be referred to the source of the Quran and Hadith. In the year 10 AH when do Hujjatul Wada ', the Prophet delivered his last sermon (Khutbah Farewell). Among the last will of the Prophet, "I leave behind me two things that if you uphold and follow these, you will never go astray.'s Al-Quran and Sunnah." Purpose of research All the available evidence in the Qur'an is true. All the available evidence in the Qur'an to mankind adopted by both the Muslims and non-Muslims. So my purpose of this research are : i. I would like to know the extent of the truth of this verse of the Quran when applied to Muslim students of SMK Kepong Baru in the evening session. ii. I would like to know whether the verses of the Qur'an can be used as an instrument to control the behavior and discipline of Muslim students of SMK Kepong Baru located in afternoon session. iii. I want to know the changes in behavior or discipline SMK Kepong Baru Muslim students who are in the afternoon session after the program was conducted congregational prayer. This study is important for Muslims in accordance with the purpose of the Qur'an was revealed and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad as a guide all Muslims. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Koran, “ There is no doubt whatever (should come from God and on completion); it is guidance for those that (evil) “(Al-Baqarah: verse 2). In addition, the study is also important for Muslims living theory outlined by Allah. Research Questions I am a Muslim teacher who taught at SMK Kepong Baru. Muslim students of SMK Kepong Baru in the afternoon session with discipline problems such as stealing money or other items at school. This is a serious problem. Students involved are often called by their teachers to be given disciplinary punishment but still remain the same offense under. I think this is a negative habit that stems from the soul and heart problems. Troubled heart will be intending to do things that are sinful. Prophet Muhammad has said, which means "All actions depends on intent, and (return) per person (subject) what is meant; Anyone migration intentions for the world that want to achieve or for women who want to marry, his emigration was for what he intended . "[Reported by al-Bukhari]. Prophet Muhammad also said, which means "Truly in the body there is a piece of meat, when a piece of meat is good, then everything will be good, and when a piece of meat is bad, it will be all evil, know that it is a piece of meat heart. "(Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim). All things associated with the soul and heart problems must be treated and purified by the methods of those who has a way of Islam. By the prayers of the program of the school also is one way to cleanse the liver of dark spots on the sin he has committed. Prophet Muhammad has said, which means "Verily the believers, when doing a sin, a black spot forms on his heart. When he repents, then stop and pray for his sins, then clean of the black spots. And when he is in sin, rose black spot on his heart, closed up around him, and it is rust called Allah in His Book: Once in a while is not, in fact what they did was rusted (close) their hearts. Surah Al-Mutoffifin verse 14. "(Hadith narrated by Al-Baihaqi). Therefore I would like to know: 1. Do they also do prayers at home? 2. How their attitudes at home with your family? 3. Do they feel should be taught to perform prayer in school? 4. How the development of school discipline throughout the program is adjusted prayers? Significance of study This study is very important to do because of misconduct committed by Muslim students of SMK Kepong Baru in the afternoon session of stealing someone else's property, including money always happen every year. Initiatives have been undertaken by the religious teachers who teach Islamic education there in the afternoon session Ustazah Rohana. He has done several programs that involve filling the soul and the heart, including prayers for the Muslim students at the evening session. Thus the study wanted to see the effectiveness of prayers arranged for students systematically change the behavior of students to become better and those who believe and do righteous deeds. Allah says which means "Read and follow you (O Muhammad) what is revealed to you from the Qur'an, and establish the prayer (with diligence), for prayer restrains from shameful and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest (and effect) and (remember) Allah knows what you do. (al-Ankabut; 45) Prophet Muhammad was said, which means "not going to steal a thief, if he steals the moment he believes. would not commit adultery adulterer, if when he believed he was committing adultery. would not drink alcohol a wine drinker, if when he was drinking was a believer. "(Hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslim) And the importance of this work because we want to see prayers that have been programmed for the students be an important instrument in the development of student discipline. Finally this study will be done to see to what extent the Muslim students make prayer as a way of life. as Allah Almighty says in the Quran "Say: Truly my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are all for Allah and Sustainer of the Worlds. "(al-Ana'am; 162)
Abstract Worship (prayer) and religion is a matter which will malfunction if they are separated. Worship that show human devotion to God. But still there are differences in worship by other religions. Islam teaches and inviting people to worship one God. God can not be confused with the creature. Others have religious beliefs that the multiplicity of gods. If the request to a specific thing, that person will worship god can only do things that are asked only. Then Islamic prayer could not be separated. Until word of the prophet Muhammad PBUH which stands for "Pray the pillar of religion, those who do it then it uphold his religion and whoever left it crumbled religion." (Hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim). Minority of Muslim students have faith in a place of uncertainty when they are not taught in Islamic environment. To do something great change not done by force to diterima.Tindakan and implementation must be consistent and try to take dilakukan.Guru-teacher tolerance approach to strengthen the robustness of faith to invite students to not leave solat.Solat done that praying in one interval congregation to do and to do it alone for the constraints masa.Mahu or not each school senior Muslim must fulfill this obligation after uttering the first word syahadah.Ini also called jihad, inviting people to pray.
